In his series of essays and "letter" on the Statesn life,Michel-Guillaume-Jean de Crevecoeur gives his readersnumerous examples of the superiority of America to completely otherwise countries of that time. He believes that one reason forsuperiority is that America is with out the nobleness soprevalent in Europe at the time, which led to a hardworking and socially equal society. Another reasonCrevecoeur sees America as a superior society is theaccepting, and assimilating into one wise race, the poorpeoples from all European countries. This led to anextraordinarily diverse population, very much more diverse thanany one of the European countries eight-tenth century. Itwas for these reasons, as puff up as many others thatCrevecoeur saw America as the greatest nation of the1700s.Crevecoeur admires the equality and the freedom of theAmerican people. He sees life without the harsh swayer ofkings and bishops as much more easy going and pleasing tothe prevalent public. The lac k of an established aristocracyallows for the rich and the poor to intermingle and deepen ideas in a way never thought before in Europe.The classes were also brought to a single level by the factthat all people in the colonies had to work to survive. Therich and poor alike had to, at first, work their own land tosupply food and income to support themselves and theirfamilies.
